The Air Tigers Team is a rookie robotics team from Duval High School, a comprehensive science and technology magnet high school in Lanham, Maryland. 93% of its students are minority students, and 45% are female. Our team is growing and doing exciting projects! Think you would be a good fit? Contact us for more information!
Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit support for STEM education, in 2019 we formed FIRST Robotics team #8197 to provide mentoring and training in robotics projects. Our team of students and mentors has grown since then, all thanks to the technical knowledge and helping hands of this amazing community!
We recruit scientists and engineers from the region to serve as mentors to accelerate the technical and professional development of students at all stages of scientific research, including (as appropriate) patenting and publishing. We work with younger students in under-served communities on projects such as robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Our teams have participated in numerous competitive robotics and maker projects, and many have won awards. Students not only learn but have lots of fun working together.
We have challenging projects underway that need more students and mentors now!
Our sponsors include AOC, Capitol Tech.U DCCEAS, IEEE, Sigma Xi, University of Maryland , U.S. Navy and Washington Academy of Sciences. Thank you!

We're going online to continue our learning and mentoring! Keep students engaged in STEM anywhere!
